He couldn't deliver
Wizard of Oz,
the cowardly lion
sincerity
estrogen probation
no real boss
no boss over self
dabbled in drink
but never religion
abandoned all wishes
for enforcement of comfort
felt sorry for self on the couch
the roll away bed with the skinny metal
contusions
jutting out over his soul
and jagged, damaged heart
she loved him but punished him
she loved him but forgot about him
eventually, he took consequences for actions
but never fully made amends.
