Memories of Lorraine

My mother had fuzzy slippers with cardboard bottoms and would sit at the kitchen table each night and read the newspaper.  She crossed her legs and always had a cup of warm coffee.  She was interested in every page except for Sports.  She also watched the local news at 10 p.m. each night.  I remember the time when the national news revealed that Bill Clinton was having an affair.  They kept showing the same video of Monica Lewinsky.  My mom was somewhat impressed that Clinton would pull that stunt while president.  She thought it was excitingly dangerous.  She reveled in the possibility if it were true.  She got excited about a lot of things in the paper, too.  She named names of people she knew.  She named sons and daughters of her friends who were getting married.  My mother liked to know everything.
