She lived in a tempered shadow
her whole life
comparing herself to the brother-Doctor
sister-lawyer
father - pedigree
she was a self deprecating noose
in college
swarming off the remains
of others good intentions
she was lost in small town America
I don't know what she did to turn it around
but at one time she seemed happy
Maybe she was fully present
yet disengaged
and put on a bald faced lie
Now we have to spend the rest of our life
wondering why she did it
being angry
and malcontent
The cops have the suicide note
there was no romance to her death
a carved out death promise
of an engine key
that she planned
without
anyone's approval
did you want to die at 57
because Prince did?
